On August 13, 2016, the final performance A Magnetic Center took place at Eaux Claires, featuring percussion and voice by Jon Mueller, choreographer Dawn Springer, dancers Ania Hidalgo and Christal Wagner, and costume design by Teresa Mueller. Described by SPIN as “a mesmerizing set”, the performance featured acoustic percussion, layered vocals, bells, flowers and slow, intentional movement by veiled and blindfolded participants. The performance was photographed by Dan Huiting, one of which is being offered here in a limited edition of ten signed and numbered 8×10″ b&w prints.
Dan Huiting is an Emmy-winning Director and Cinematographer that specializes in music video, documentary, and branded/digital content, as well as aerial footage and motion-controlled time lapses. He is the senior producer of “City of Music” on Pitchfork.
Dan and I met while working with Volcano Choir on a mini-documentary about the making of our record Repave. Years later, after the A Magnetic Center performance, Dan mentioned that he took some great photos that he would send along for review. After seeing them myself, I completely agreed, and it’s a real honor to offer this print of Dan’s in a limited edition. It’s a wonderful, mysterious glimpse into what happened that day, a time I’ll never forget.
These photographic prints are housed in an archival photo sleeve, packaged in a kraft card stock photo envelope for shipping.
