TAFFY PULLER + DRYHOUSE RUINS

Guitarist Chris Rosenau and drummer Jon Mueller bring their instrumental duo Taffy Puller back to Popelka Trenchard Glass in Sturgeon Bay, along with friends Dryhouse Ruins from Milwaukee, WI.

Rosenau and Mueller became friends in the early 1990s. By the end of that decade, they had co-founded the “post rock” bands Pele and Collections of Colonies of Bees, both of which released numerous records and toured throughout the United States and Japan (via Polyvinyl Records/Table of the Elements in the US, Some of Us/Contrarede in Japan).

They later joined with bandmates from these groups and vocalist Justin Vernon of Bon Iver to form Volcano Choir. Volcano Choir’s 2013 record Repave debuted at number 40 on the Billboard charts. The group performed on the NBC show Late Night With Jimmy Fallon, experienced multiple sold out tours in the US, Canada, and Europe, and performed at international festivals such as Primavera and Osheaga.

Dryhouse Ruins features members Jim Warchol, Damian Strigens, Jeff Mitchell and Ben Derickson. The quartet uses improvisation to discover passages of motorik jazz and contemplative Americana fueled by guitar and drums from a lineup with a long lineage of notable Wisconsin bands, from The Frogs, Field Report, Sometime Sweet Susan, and more.
